Meet the Founder

Dr. Samecia Stokes is an experienced educational leader with a proven track record of working in K-12 and higher education settings. She has worked in several school districts, serving in multiple capacities, including executive director, director, principal, assistant principal, summer school principal, summer camp principal, summer bridge coordinator, feeder pattern lead, and teacher.

A Leadership Greater Jackson alum, Dr. Stokes has held commitments and memberships in several professional organizations, including the National Institute for School Leadership (NISL), the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), the Mississippi Association for Middle-Level Education (MAMLE), and the Association for Middle-Level Education (AMLE), just to name a few. At Belhaven University, Dr. Stokes has served as a module writer, teacher mentor, educational leadership internship supervisor, and adjunct professor for both American and Chinese students. She is a silver member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Dr. Stokes received a Doctor of Philosophy in Education/Emphasis in School Administration from Mississippi State University, a Master of Science in Educational Leadership and Supervision from Jackson State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Tougaloo College. At Tougaloo, she reigned as Miss Tougaloo College and was recognized in Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities. Additionally, she is a national recipient of the Andrew Mellon fellow and Furman fellow. She is also a national recipient of the S.D. Shankland Educator Award from the American Association for School Administrators.

Dr. Stokes’ propensity for school and community partnerships is evident in her support of dialogues on school reform, parent/student engagement, equitable student achievement practices, global networking and collaboration, teacher leadership development, and promoting teacher and student achievement, educational support, and innovative solutions. Her self-care revolves around family, mission work, and caring for the homeless and elderly. She also enjoys the arts of fishing, writing, singing, and yoga.
